Web Design

One basic element of visual communication used in web design is the line. It is a decisive way to present direction and purpose to the user. Lines lead the user's eyes across the web page by sequence of importance. Notation systems are made clear with the separate boxes made with the lines which establishes different purposes of each part sectioned off. Different tones are divided among the different categories as well. Beside the directional purposes of the lines, it balances the web page visually because it creates similar shapes.

Color is another element used in web design to direct the user's eyes to the most important parts of the web page. Color conveys emotion and this is used in the image where the blue box is attempting to make the user feel happy and relaxed about their service. Color also directs the user's eyes to important information and helps distinguish each section from each other. The blue contrasting against the plain white, black, and grey draw the user's attention to the company's logo and the main point of the web page.

Scale is the third element relevant to web design because it is another directional mechanism for the user to understand where to look first. It is an organizational technique of what is the most important. The largest pictures on the web page draw the user's attention before the smaller and less important pictures. The larger text also indicates to the user where to look to understand what the following smaller text is saying.
